Never fight in the open - You'll lose every time
Camp corners - Wait for enemies to walk in
Use doorways - Force fights at choke points
Don't chase - If they run, let them go
Bring a mid-range secondary - You need one

Keep distance - back away
Use grenades to flush them out
Never enter tight rooms first
